Solidarity, participation and smart action for a better future


SIRIUS coordinator, professor Simone Baglioni, has been invited to deliver a key note speech at the Baltic Sea States Subregional Co-operation (BSSSC) annual conference "Solidarity, participation and smart action for a better future" (Gdansk, Poland, 11-12 September 2018). At the conference professor Baglioni will speak to an audience of policy makers and practitioners about issues of transnational solidarity in Europe as emerging from the TransSOL project.

The BSSSC gathers regional authorities (level directly below the national level authorities) of the 10 Baltic Sea littoral states: Germany, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Russia. It works with the EU in the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region.
